Tiatordos is one of the most interesting peaks of the Redes Natural Park in Asturias. The hike from Pendones develops on a trail that is well marked and in good condition, and we have beautiful views for much of the hike. The precipice of 600 meters at the top on the Ponga side is spectacular and from the top we have views over much of the Cantabrian Mountains, including the Picos de Europa, located not far from Redes.

  • Walk on the parking lot (1) towards the road through the village (2) and turn right on the road that soon becomes unpaved. After ten minutes, keep right at the fork (3).
  • We follow the white-yellow marking and follow the unpaved road. So at the fork further on (4) we keep to the right and we ignore further forks. After a total of about fifty minutes, we keep to the left at the fork (5), clearly marked with white-yellow and an arrow.
  • The trail, the PR-AS-65, is well marked with white-yellow, posts and milestones and allows us to climb steadily, initially through the forest and later with better and better views. More than an hour after the fork (5) and more than 700 metres of ascent, we arrive at a meadow (6) and we see the Tiatordos in front of us.
  • A little further on at the signposts (7) we go straight ahead, following the signpost towards Tiatordos. From here we follow the PR-AS-304. A little further on (8) we therefore do not follow the PR-AS-65 to the left, but we keep to the right, at a post, up a narrow path against the mountain.
  • A climb of more than 350 metres awaits us, with which we reach the Tiatordos (9) in less than an hour.
  • The way back is via the same route.
